About Us

The question everyone asks you when starting a business is why start one? And the answer for us is really simple. We are tired of the way agriculture has been effecting our planet and people for the past 60 years. So, we want to help make the change to bring people back to the gardens and creating a sustainable food future for themselves and their family.
Born and raised in Oklahoma I have been involved in agriculture my entire life. From helping my grandpa on his farm as a kid to operating a small-scale farm in my youth, I have always felt a connection to both plants and animals. During my college years at Oklahoma State University I studied Agri Business focusing on farm and ranch management. While there I learned new techniques for growing plants and began to learn about microbial life in the soil. After graduating I continued my education in growing techniques and stumbled upon living soil. It’s a fantastic concept, mimicking nature and putting more focus on the soil not just the plant itself.
It’s a concept people got away from in the early 1900’s when agriculture started becoming industrialized. We saw what happened then, farmers stopped focusing on crop rotation, soil rest, and cover cropping which then resulted in the dust bowl. Then in the early 1940’s with WW2 ramping up the petroleum industry took off, then grinded to a halt once the war ended. This left the US with a glut of petroleum and no idea what to do with it. Scientist went to work, soon realizing we can extract nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from that oil. For the first time in human history we began making chemical-based fertilizers on large scale and that changed everything.
They called it the green revolution, while it did make the plants greener it didn’t make them healthier. The problem with this revolution was we kept all the bad practices that led to the dust bowl, but this time we had chemical fertilizers to make things appear healthy. The true nutrients and medicine that the plants desperately need were dying off and the soil began eroding under our feet. The answer to these problems from the chemical companies were to just use another one of their products and all will be fixed. But these products are a never-ending cycle of fixing one issue while then causing another to appear later on. After 6 decades of this loop our soils have been degraded and our plants are so altered with GMO’s that they look like something out of Frankenstein. They are also lacking the minerals and nutrients that our ancestors would have received, which is no wonder why everyone’s immune system is so poor.
Its time for us to focus on getting people and plants healthy again. It not a crazy difficult thing to do either it just starts with getting a healthy soil again. A soil that is full of fungal and bacterial life. That makes the plants strong and healthy enough to fend pests off themselves. A soil that doesn’t need to be replaced every year because all the nutrients are gone, but actually gets better with age. At Serious Soil we are here to do that, to bring the life back to your soils and end our 60 plus years of dependence on the chemical companies to provide us with their “relatively nontoxic” products.
We pledge to provide you the best products we can on the market and continue to learn/grow and teach our techniques. Check out our blog to learn more about certain products and what effects they have in your soil and on your plants.
Join our subscriber list! Over the next year we are going to constantly be adding new products to our lineup. With these new products being added we will be having tons of deals on them as well as other products. We are also going to add to our blog on a very regular basis. Bringing the public a plethora of free knowledge about organic gardening practices. We want to cover incredible products, techniques, and also some history on where these practices began and the effects they had.
